Memory Care · Salize by Avanti
Salize uses holistic care for each resident: specialized exercises, healthy nutrition, an engaged lifestyle and medication management. The program is designed to empower those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, so they can live a life with purpose.
Salize and Avanti together also work for couples, when one person needs memory support and the other wants to live next door.

My 77-year-old mom lives with me. While I’m at work, she is supposed to take her own medications. I began to notice that she was not always taking her medications on time, or even not at all. I became concerned when her health started declining. I decided she needed more help with managing her medications, and someone who could give it to her in private and not in front of others. That’s one of my mom’s worries: that she would have to take her pills while eating or when she’s with others. We both wanted her to live the same independent life she had with me, but with some extra help. Avanti did that. Now, I don’t have to worry about mom taking the right number of pills when she’s supposed to.

When my mom passed away, my dad went into a depression. He lost his appetite, didn’t want to eat, and even lost weight. My sisters and I knew he needed help. We did some research and found that Avanti has the TASTE Restaurant. We were so happy to find a community that offers a variety of healthy, unprocessed foods. They also take into account everyone’s dietary needs and restrictions. Dad is borderline diabetic, so it was extremely important that we found a place that makes healthy food and can monitor his overall health. Dad now not only eats healthy foods, but his diabetes is under control.

My mom recently lost my dad. They had been married for 54 years. After he passed, mom became isolated, not even wanting to get out of the house. When she moved to Avanti, she was hesitant to come out of her room. The Fitness Coordinator and Engagement Coordinator worked with mom every day and asked if she wanted to attend activities. Eventually she said yes to Happy Hour. Once she broke the ice, she started attending daily, socializing, and building new friendships. She even watches movies with her new friends in the theater room. I haven’t seen mom this happy since my dad was here. The best part is that Avanti offers Bible study, so my mom can not only socialize more, but can get back to church.

Our TASTE Restaurant takes dining to new levels of flavor. Unlike many 62+ communities, Avanti has eliminated unhealthy processed foods from our menus. We’ve also cut out foods that are deep-fried or contain high-sodium additives, such as MSG, and we do our best to accommodate special dietary needs and allergies.
Menus feature local favorites, such as red beans and rice, King Casserole and Tex-Mex. Bon appétit!

The “A” Crew
The “A” Crew family room is designed for kids to connect with grandparents. It was created by kids, for kids: we asked students in grades one through five what activities, snacks, games and events make a visit fun. They told us, and we built it.
The family room has the latest games and a big-screen TV, with a doorway to the courtyard for running around and playing.

Our staff knows the name of each resident and remembers their individual needs, so we can be proactive in providing discreet, on-cue service in the most professional manner.

My parents have been at Avanti for over a year. During our search, we realized that the food and environment are two of the most important aspects when choosing an assisted living facility for my parents. Avanti is so different than any assisted living place we’ve been to. My folks have housekeeping daily, which is so helpful. They even have a little backyard they’ll enjoy once it warms up. The residents are very independent and seem very happy. They love socializing and enjoy happy hour with each other every day! My parents have enjoyed the food so much. It’s wonderful dishes and not just your typical cafeteria food. They can even have food delivered to their room any time of day if they don’t feel like dining with everyone. There are exercise classes in the morning and afternoon, which is awesome. My dad actually loves going to them as well. The caregivers are very discreet and caring. We have been really happy with the staff. My parents have made friends already in the two months they’ve been here.
